Review: Paradise Rock Club - Too much
Here's a quick note to performers everywhere: if you have the balls to keep your crowd waiting for an hour, DON"T COME OUT AND PLAY ACOUSTIC SONGS. Citizen Cope bored the hell out of me
at The Paradise. I couldn't believe I waited an hour to see this guy barely give a shit about playing. He had no emotion, no passion, and it looked like he would welcome any excuse to leave. His first three song hooks were as follows: Put the gun down, Just fade away, and Between a bullet and a gun. Yeah I get it he is supposed to be a hippy guru dude dealing with the complexity and inequality of life, but so was Zach De La Rocha and you know what, he put it down every single time. Perhaps what I witnessed was major-lable postpartum depression. Shit I would have dropped this guy too with that attitude. You want a career in music? Show up on time and perform for the crowd. You chose the path, walk it with your head held high, or are those dreads getting a little too heavy. Don't bother with Citizen Cope, he is willing to waste your time.
